Assemble at the Treatment Plant’s Administration Building at the end of Metz Road at 7:30 am sharp to meet your leader, Dan Bye. This is a 1/2-day trip that may end in the early afternoon if the birding is good. Directions to the Clear Creek Plant: Take Hwy 273 south, after crossing Clear Creek and past the Win-River Casino, take the second left turn at River Ranch Road and cross over the railroad tracks. With precipitation closer to normal this year, we are looking forward to some good habitat in the ponds at the City of Redding’s Clear Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant. Bring your scope if you have one to help us scan for migrating shorebirds. Directions to the Clear Creek Plant: Take Hwy 273 south from Redding and look for River Ranch Road after crossing Clear Creek. Cross over the Railroad tracks and turn left on Eastside Rd. Entrance is on Metz Road on the right. Meet at 7:30 am. Rain cancels.

Join us at the City of Redding Clear Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant on Metz Road off of Hwy 273 for a sunrise stroll around the ponds and Sacramento River. We will be looking for wintering waterfowl/waders as well as riparian and oak woodland passerines. Dress for chilly and windy weather on a 2-hour flat terrain hike, bring water and snacks. Rain cancels the trip.
