Second Saturday Bird Walk at Lema Ranch

An hour long bird walk on the Lema Ranch trails will be held for attendees of the Northern California Audubon Council Meeting. All Wintu Audubon members are also invited, regardless of whether you are registered to attend the meeting. Of course, those not attending the meeting are free to continue birding the grounds as council attendees make their way to the 8 am meeting.

Second Saturday Bird Walk at John Reginato River Access Trail

Bird life on the Campus of Shasta College, our regular fall walk, is expected to be sparse as all the water sources are dry. So again as we did last year we have switched the outing to the John Reginato River Access Trail. This trail leaves the parking lot of the John Reginato Boat Launch on the west side of the Sacramento River off South Bonnyview Road. Good views of the Sacramento River are afforded on this short trail as it traverses a mixed riparian woodland. We should see a variety of fall migrants such as Willow Flycatcher, Nashville, Yellow and Orange-crowned Warblers and possibly a few recently arrived winter residents. Meet our leader, Chad Scott, at the parking lot on the south side of the Redding Civic Auditorium. This ½-day walk is open to the public and all birding skill levels are welcome.

Second Saturday Bird Walk at Shasta College

The campus and farmlands of Shasta College offer a wide variety of habitats to explore for migrating and summer resident passerines. These habitats include oak studded lawns, a wastewater treatment pond, riparian woodlands along Stillwater Creek, and agricultural fields. Meet in Shasta College’s north parking lot for this ½ day trip that is open to the public. Pablo Herrera and Alicia Young will lead.

Second Saturday Bird Walk at Turtle Bay

Discover Birding at one of Shasta County’s premier birding hot spots! Turtle Bay offers experiences for all levels of birders. This area, located in the center of town, offers a chance to explore oak woodlands, ponds and marshes, open rivers, high bluffs, and riparian habitats, which attract both local and migratory species. Each month offers chances to identify different species and to experience the variations of plumage and song that each season brings.
